About the position
Sun Metals is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Maintenance Team. You will manage the integrity of power supply within our Zinc Refinery, including high voltage supply distribution, fire systems, building lights, air conditioning and radio systems.
You will be involved in a broad range of duties from minor works to liaising on major projects, as well as organising and coordinating contractors and internal resources to complete projects on time and within budget.
Job Description
Key responsibilities will include:
Maintain the integrity and reliability of the supply of the power by investigating the root cause of power outages and developing appropriate remedial action.
Provide technical overview for the operation of the high voltage (HV) architecture.
Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all HV equipment.
Manage rectiformer maintenance and diesel generator operation and maintenance.
Design and administer required switching procedures and advice and monitor maintenance and Operations workforce on proper application of isolation procedures.
Liaise with external power suppliers and authorities as required.
Provide technical engineering advice and practical input into operations/maintenance activities and teams.
Carry out Project Management as required, including design, to suit plant modifications or projects.
Participate in capital and maintenance budget planning.
Collate, analyse and trend electrical operating data to optimise the use of the power throughout the refinery.
Prepare regular reports on the overall power supply performance, both internal and external.
Promote a safe working environment, investigate and complete any incidents and corrective actions in agreed timeframes.
Promote positive Company image among consultants, contractors and the local community.
Desired Skills and Experience
You will meet the following criteria:
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
Accredited as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), or the ability to gain.
Experience within a refinery or processing plant is desired.
Ability to complete multiple tasks with varying levels of priority.
Sound written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office package, particularly Excel and Word.
Proficient in the use of a CMMS. (JD Edwards would be an advantage.)
